"Before the throne of God, the angel, with all the other angels, stood and cried: 'Lord of my life, grant me the strength to tread the path of revelation; to cross the sea of dark illusion, and face the lighted way of earth.' God said: 'Go forth and far away.'

"Before the gate which opens on the lighted way to peace, the angel stood alone and said: 'Lord of my life, the way of revelation is the way of manifested life; the path of dark illusion leads to the light which scatters every shadow. I seek to tread the lighted way which lead back to thy Presence. As yet that way is dark. What shall I do?' God said, 'Draw near and enter into thine own light, and in that light, see Light.'

"Before the gateway of each newborn day, which holds within its sealed hours ordered responsibility, each morn I stand. I cry aloud: 'Lord of my life, how can I do the duty of this day and seek detachment? Meet every need and yet free myself from ties and bonds?' God said: 'The sun draws near and vivifies the earth. Naught can it take from out the earth. Live likewise. Give and ask naught!'"

Prayer for the New Age

The new world prayer was given by Maitreya in July 1988 is really an affirmation with an invocative effect, and will be a powerful tool in the recognition by us that man and God are one, that there is no separation. By affirming that I am the creator of the universe I can come into consciousness (eventually) that I am God, the true reality.

The most appropriate and potent way to use the Prayer for the New Age is to say or think the words with the focussed will, the attention at the ajna centre between the eyebrows. It is an affirmation, and all such prayers or mantrams depend for their effect on the application of the focussed will (what the Master Djwhal khul calls the "fixed intention").

On the whole people fail to comprehend this. For example the Lord's Prayer and the Great Invocation are often said like a benediction. For such prayers to be truly invocatory, you have to bring the will to bear - reflecting the precise understanding of the concepts. When the mind grasps the meaning of the concepts, and simultaneously the will is brought to bear, then those concepts will be activated and the mantram will work.

Benjamin Creme

I am the creator of the universe.

I am the father and mother of the universe.

Everything came from me.

Everything shall return to me.

Mind, spirit and body are my temples

For the Self to realize in them

My supreme Being and Becoming

The Lord Maitreya

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of men,

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men,

May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men -

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men

Let the plan of Love and Light work out

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Alice A Bailey

The great invocation, used by Christ for the first time in June 1945, was released by him to humanity to enable man himself to invoke the energies which would change our world, and make it possible the return of the Christ and the Hierarchy.

It can be made even more potent. Used in triangular formation it becomes very potent. If you wish to work in this way, arrange with two friends to use the Invocation, aloud daily. You need not be in the same town or country, or say it at the same time of day. Simply say it when convenient for each one, and linking up mentally with the other two members, visualise a triangle of white light circulating above your heads and see it linked to a network of such triangles, covering the world.

Another way, which can be used in conjunction with the triangle, is the following:

When you say the first line: From the point of light…", visualise or think the Buddha, the Embodiment of Light or Wisdom on the Planet. Visualise Him sitting in the Lotus posture, saffron robe over one shoulder, hand raised in blessing, and see emanating from the heart centre, the ajna centre (between eyebrows), and the upraised hand of the Buddha, a brilliant golden light. See this light enter the minds of men everywhere.

When you say, "Let Light descend on earth", visualise the sun, the physical sun, and see emanating from it beams of white light. See this light enter and saturate the Earth.

When you say: "From the point of Love…", visualise the Christ (the Embodiment of Love) however you see Him. A good way to see Him is standing at the head of an inverted Y shaped table, thus: each arm of the Y the same length. (That table exists in the world and the Christ presides at it.) See him standing arms raised in blessing, and see emanating from the heart centre and the upraised hands of the Christ, a brilliant rose coloured light (not red). Visualise the rose light enter the hearts of men everywhere.

When you say this line: "May Christ return to earth", remember that this refers to the Hierarchy, and although He is now among us, remainder of the Hierarchy (which externalise slowly over the years) still requires to be invoked, the magnetic conduit for Their descent has still to be maintained.

When you say "From the centre where the will of God is known," which is Shamballa, visualise a great sphere of white light. (You can place it mentally in the Gobi desert, where it is on the two highest of the four etheric planes.) Streaming from this sphere of brilliant light visualise, again, beams of light entering the world.

Do this all with focussed thought and intention, your attention fixed on the ajna centre between the eyebrows. In this way you form a telepathic conduit between yourselves and the Hierarchy. Through that conduit energies thus invoked can flow. There is nothing better you can do for the world or yourselves, than channel these great spiritual potencies.

Transmission Meditation

The same Great Invocation is used in Transmission Meditation but in this case the meditaters sit together in a circle, on a particular day of the week, or several days of the week, at a set time and day each week. They start by reciting the Great Invocation loudly together once. The visualisation given above with the Great Invocation can also be used at the same time. Then the meditators try to keep their attention between the eyebrows by reciting "Om" few times silently in their minds. When their attention drops or when thoughts intrude they recite "Om" silently in their minds. Transmission meditation is the highest from of service anyone can do and also is the quickest way to achieve spiritual advancement.

Six months of transmission meditation is equivalent to 20 years of personal meditation. If this meditation is done as a group in group formation all sitting in the same room it should not be done more than three times a week as its effects are very powerful. This meditation can be done for several hours each time when done in group formation. No child under the age of 12 should take part in it and children or pets should not be present in the same room as the energy can be harmful to children or pets. The chakras of children are not sufficiently developed to handle the energies generated by the meditation.

  • Mantram of Unification

In the Alice Bailey's book "The externalisation of the Hierarchy" the Master DK says:

"Endeavour to use the following formula or mantram everyday. It is a modernised and mystically worded version of the one which was used widely in Atlantean days during the period of the ancient conflict of which the present is an effect. For many of you this mantram will be in the nature of a recovery of an old and well known form of words."

"These words may seem inadequate, but said with power and an understanding of their significance and the potency of the mind and heart behind them, they can prove unbelievably potent in the life of the one who says them. They will produce also an effect in his environment, and the accumulated effects in the world, as you spread the knowledge of the formula, will be great and effective. It will change attitudes, enlighten the vision and lead the aspirant to fuller service and a wider cooperation based upon sacrifice. My brother you cannot evade the sacrifice in the long run, even if you have evaded it until now."

The sons of men are one and I am one with them.

    I seek to love, not hate;

    I seek to serve and not exact due service;

I seek to heal, not hurt.

Let pain bring due reward of light and love.

Let the soul control the outer form, and life and all events

And bring to light the love that underlies the happenings of the time.

    Let vision come and insight.

    Let the future stand revealed.

Let inner union demonstrate and outer cleavages be gone.

    Let love prevail.

    Let all men love.

      Alice A Bailey

    Another Invocation

    "May the energy of the divine Self inspire and the light of the Soul direct;

may I be led from darkness to light,

    from unreal to real,

    from death to immortality."

      Alice A Bailey

For the Group of World Servers

Link up everyday at 5 o'clock by an act of will link up with the rapidly integrating group of world servers, mystics and brothers with the attention focussed in the head between the eye brows and say:

"May the Power of the one Life pour through the group of all true servers.

"May the Love of the One Soul characterise the lives of all who seek to aid the Great Ones.

"May I fulfil my part in the One work through self-forgetfulness, harmlessness and right speech."

Then carry the thought forward from the rapidly forming group of world servers to the Great Ones who stand back of our world evolution.

    Alice A Bailey

    For the disciple

Master DK says in his book 'Telepathy' by Alice Bailey "The disciple has to take himself as he is, at any time, with any given equipment, under any circumstances; he then proceeds to subordinate himself, his affairs and his time to the need of the hour-particularly during the phase of group, national or world crisis. When he does this within his own consciousness and is, therefore, thinking along the lines of true values, he will discover that his own affairs are taken care of, his capacities are increased and his limitations are forgotten. He takes his place with those who perceive the needs of the coming cycle-a cycle wherein the new ideas and ideals must be stressed and for which fight must be made, wherein the wider plans for the good of the whole must be understood, endorsed and preached..."

"The Mantram bears the name, "The affirmation of the disciple." It involves certain inner recognitions and acceptances which are readily perceived by those whose intuition is sufficiently awake; but the meaning should not be beyond the ability of any sincere student and thinker to penetrate if it appeals to them as significant and warranting their effort."

I am a point of light within a greater light.

I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of Love divine.

I am a point of sacrificial Fire, focussed within the fiery will of God.

    And thus I stand.

I am a way by which men may achieve.

I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.

I am a beam of light, shining upon their way.

    And thus I stand.

    And standing thus, revolve

And tread this way the ways of men,

And know the ways of God.

    And thus I stand.

    Alice A Bailey
